New Exam Platform for Legacy Functional - Mon 19th Oct 2020

Skillsfirst are no longer using the SecureAssess or SecureClient platforms for the scheduling, or taking of Functional Skills exams.   All Functional Skills exams (legacy and reformed) should be scheduled and taken within the XAMS platform.   For those centres already using XAMS for Reformed Functional Skills exams, your current logins allow you to schedule legacy Functional Skills and ICT automatically.   Those centres who have not yet used XAMS will need to submit user requests for centre staff. Please complete and return the attached form to If you deliver Functional Skills through one of our awarding organisation (AO) partners, please send the form to them as they will create your user account.

LGBT Train The Trainer Workshops - Tue 17th Dec 2019

***** Remote Workshops***** To support the delivery of our new Skillsfirst Level 2 Certificate in LGBT Inclusion in the Workplace (RQF) qualification, we are offering Train the Trainer Workshops on: These Train the Trainer workshops will allow delegates to: Gain the knowledge and understanding of how to work positively with people who identify as LGBT. Be able to disseminate this knowledge to other assessors and IQAs who will assess and quality assure the Level 2 Certificate in LGBT Inclusion in the Workplace (RQF) qualification. Explore the assessment methods that can be used to evidence the learning outcomes in the qualification and network with others who will also be delivering this qualification.   The cost for attending these workshops is £60+ VAT and will include a record of attendance. Level 5 Lead Adult Care Worker Standard - Update - Mon 21st Oct 2019

Skills for Care have advised us that the assessment plan for the new Level 5 Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship Standard has still not been published by IfATE. This is due to a delay in the funding band being approved and signed off by the Minister.   Skills for Care have also confirmed that the current SASE framework  the Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management (for England) (level 5) will therefore be extended for a further six months until the funding band has been agreed.   In line with this, we have also extended the end date for our current HSC5 Skillsfirst Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (England) (RQF) qualification until 31 July 2020 to allow centres to continue registering learners on this framework.

LGBTQ+ Education Strategy - Wed 9th Jan 2019

Mark Child (Head of Assessment) is currently working with representatives from Education, Health, Social Care and the LGBTQ+ Community to develop a national strategy and qualifications that will support the implementation of compulsory LGBTQ+ education in schools from September 2020, and improve the delivery of care and support for people who identify as being LGBTQ+.
