Please find below a link to Skillsfirst's requirements for centres conducting remote Speaking, Listening and Communicating (SLC) assessments. This is applicable to both legacy and reformed Functional Skills English Levels 1 and 2 qualifications.
Adaptations to remote SLC assessments for legacy Functional Skills English Levels 1 and 2 only
For legacy Functional Skills English Levels 1 and 2 SLC assessments, if you are adapting the SLC assessment methodology to remote delivery due to COVID-19, this must be approved by the External Verifier / EQA in advance, regardless as to whether the centre already has direct claim status (DCS).
It is imperative centres contact Skillsfirst (or where applicable, your AO partner), in order for us to arrange for an EV to observe the first "live" remote SLC assessment taking place (at both levels). If this is not possible, we will ask you to provide us with the video recording(s), in order to carry out a remote external quality assurance activity.
Centres are required to complete the legacy FS remote SLC adaptations submissions spreadsheet (linked below), confirming all learners whose SLC assessment will be carried out remotely. You should email this to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please be mindful that all results for SLC assessments for legacy Functional Skills English Level 1 and 2 qualifications, must have been submitted to Skillsfirst no later than 28 May 2021.
If you have any queries relating to this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
