Continuing Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the term used to describe the learning activities people engage in to develop and enhance their abilities. It enables learning to become conscious and proactive, rather than passive and reactive.

Engaging in CPD ensures that occupational competence does not become outdated or obsolete; allowing individuals to continually ‘up skill’ or ‘re-skill’ themselves, regardless of occupation, age or educational level.

The qualifications listed on the right are vocationally-based and could be used by professional and specialist staff to:

  • maintain their occupational competence
  • seek a qualification to recognise their competence
  • explore possible new career paths
  • develop themselves in their job role.
