Qualification summary

The Level 1 Award in Principles of Business Start-up (RQF) is designed for those of you who are considering starting your own business and need the basic knowledge, skills and understanding to progress your business start-up idea from paper into reality.

This qualification will help you understand the vital rules for ensuring your business start-up is successful and covers a range of relevant topics such as:

  • business planning
  • legislation
  • tax considerations
  • marketing a product
  • understanding the sales cycle

It will also provide you with an action plan to carry out the steps needed to start up your business successfully. You will also be signposted where to seek advice and guidance on business development and financial support.

On completion of this qualification you could add value to your skillset by taking the:

  • Level 1 Award in Computerised Accounting for Business (RQF) and, or the
  • Level 1 Award in Computerised Payroll for Business (RQF)

If you feel that you already have experience in this area you could look to undertake a Skillsfirst qualification in Team Leading or Management.
